Is InPower AI a Coach?
The InPower AI Concierge is not a coach. It’s a private, OpenAI-based chatbot designed to meet the ICF AI Coaching standards. I’ve trained it on many of my coaching materials and approaches. It knows a lot of what I know and can help you find it, and it’s pretty good at referencing my techniques and approaches to help you think through coaching challenges you have. It’s not me. It’s not going to make the intuitive leaps and personal judgments you’ll hear from me when we talk 1:1.
The more I train it, the better it will be at giving you the kind of advice I give my clients on basic career and leadership development challenges. It may remind you about concepts we’ve discussed and hopefully send you to the right resources on my websites. But when you want personal insights, advice, or recommended materials, please reach out to me in person!
Example Questions
Prompts are more powerful when they’re more detailed. Take these topic examples and embellish them with your own context. Want more inspiration? Download my Leader’s AI Prompt Library PDF for more ideas.
The more detail you provide, the more contextual and useful the answers:
- I’m having a challenge with a direct report [explain the challenge] and would like some advice for how to handle my next 1-1 with them. [Here’s my planned approach.] What am I missing?
- I’m leading a matrixed team with members that don’t report to me. Here’s how I plan to influence them to prioritize our work together in an upcoming presentation. [explain your plan] What should I add?
- I have a performance review coming up and want to be sure I represent my accomplishments well. I’ve uploaded my accomplishments, can you suggest how I can summarize them?
- I want to ask my boss for some training and development budget next year. Here is my pitch based on ROI. What other arguments might be as persuasive?
- I am up for a promotion next year, and I’ve done a good job aligning with these stakeholders. I’m not sure whether they would support me for a promotion. How can I find out?
How It Works
I use a service called CoachVoxAI to build and maintain InPower AI. You can use it here on my site, and clients get download access to put the InPower AI Brainstorm Coach on their phones for easy 24×7 access. Please feel free to use it to help you think through how you can make the best use of our 1:1 time before we talk and afterwards when you need some refreshers. Find a mistake or problem? Please let me know so I can train it better.
